Home by Yann Arthus-Bertrand

April 21st, 2010

The first half of this 90 minute film was watched by an interested group at The Penybont Inn last night. It was agreed that the film was an excellent production, with stunning photography and great editing, and that its message was very much what we needed to get across.

The discussion that followed included the question of how to overcome people’s negativity, how to turn an essentially worrying and depressing message about the future into something inspiring and motivating.

The second half of the film will be shown at the next film showing.

Film Show “HOME” at The Peny 20th April

April 9th, 2010

Ystradgynlais and District Transition Town will be showing the film “Home” in its entirety at The Penybont Inn on 20th April. We ask attendees to be there for 7 for a 7:30 start, but don’t worry if you are running a little late – it is a long and beautiful film!

After the film there will be a discussion, and an aim at looking at setting up local groups to work on environmental issues.

The Penybont Inn is kindly allowing us to use their function room free of charge, so please reciprocate by purchasing a drink – tea and coffee will be available.

Thanks to the attendees & to The Peny!

Thanks to those who turned up in the driving rain to watch the films in The Penybont Inn last night. Also a big thanks to Lin, Chick and Molly for letting us host the event there for free.

Everyone seemed to enjoy “The Story of Stuff” and find it thought-provoking, whilst Jody’s explanation of a LETS Scheme went down well. We got some good ideas to work with, and plans for the future.

Hopefully we will be able to hold another event in the near future, and show the film “Home” properly. By then, it should be lovely and sunny, and with our new website bedding down, and our online advertisement/promotion working well, there should be a lot more people who come along.
